17 year old dating a 23 year old
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California i am 17 years old(18 in a couple months). legally are we allowed to continue to date if we dont do anything sexually. is it illegal to date someone of that age or is it just illegal if we become sexually involved or how does that all work. my father told us we could never speak again until i am 18, cuz he said its illegal to date someone older, however i think he is wrong. As said, until you are 18 mom and dad have complete say over who yu can see and what you can do. Until then, given that you've decided not to sneak around, the many theoretical possible futures that could result from your lying to your parents, sneaking around, and his seeing you in violation of their wishes are not relevant. And if you hope for your parents to approve of your dating decision when you are 18, then you might want to honor their wishes. The growing up that people do at 22+ is also exponential. Thats why this is a bigger age gap than a 28 year old dating a 39 year old. The growing up that people do is exponential at the age of 18 because it usually involves moving out of the house, on their own, etc.Your father is wrong that it is illegal to date as long as it is non-sexual.However, if your father says no, then it is no until you are 18, regardless of whether it is illegal or not.
However last night I get a drunk phone call from my friend telling me the girl pretty much asked him out.
Now I'm finding this weird, firstly she has a boyfriend and I just can't see the age gap working.
